The groundskeeper at my local park in Tucson showed me a seed pod I'd walked past for 2 weeks
Last Saturday I was at Reid Park and an older guy who works there saw me squinting at a mesquite tree and cracked one of the pods open for me. He said the little seeds inside get a hard coat that needs to be scratched up before water can get in, and that the tree counts on animals and rain to do that job for it. Does anyone here have a trick for getting stubborn seeds like that to sprout without sandpaper?
