Shoutout to the grow light I blew off for 2 years while my windowsill plants suffered
For two years I swore my south facing window in Denver was plenty for my seedlings, and every March I'd get leggy tomatoes and basil that never got past 3 inches. Last month I finally set up a cheap LED bar a friend kept pushing on me, and within 9 days the same basil seeds hit 2 inches with tight nodes and real leaves. The difference was light distance, not wattage. I had the bar 4 inches above the soil, but my window seedlings were stretching a full foot sideways just to chase weak sun through glass. My zinnias are stockier too, maybe half the stem length with double the leaf pairs. Has anyone else run into a stretch problem where moving the light closer fixed it faster than bumping up the power?
