Rant: That guy at the plant swap who told me my soil mix was killing my succulents
I had been growing succulents for 3 years with no issues, but some dude at a local swap in Austin insisted I needed to add more perlite. After ignoring him for months, I finally tried his 50/50 mix and my echeveria stopped getting mushy leaves in just 2 weeks. Has anyone else had a random stranger save their whole collection?

Oh man, that 50/50 mix is literally the secret. Perlite saves lives (well, succulent lives anyway).

@mason.paige nailed it. That 50/50 mix is basically succulent gold. I used to think I was doing fine with regular potting soil and a bit of sand but nope. My leaves kept going soft and brown on the edges. Switched to half perlite half cactus mix after reading a random reddit post. Total game changer. Now my echeveria look like they're from a glossy magazine.
