PSA: I used to water my succulents like clockwork every Sunday without fail

For two years I stuck to a strict weekly schedule, even during winter. Then last March I checked on my echeveria after a rainy week here in Phoenix and found rot at the base of three pots. Now I only water when the soil is bone dry and leaves get a little wrinkly, which can be 3 weeks apart in cooler months. Anyone else have a plant that taught you to ignore the calendar entirely?

My zebra plant thrived on neglect for 8 months until I finally watered it.

Strict weekly schedule" sounds like you learned the hard way, just like I did with a haworthia that turned to mush after a rainy week.
