Pro tip: bottom watering changed my succulent game

Used to mist my succulents every morning cause that's what some gardening video said. After losing 3 echeverias to rot in two months, I switched to bottom watering with a tray and now I only do it every 10 days. Anyone else make that switch and see better roots?

Misting succulents every morning? That sounds like a recipe for disaster right out of the gate. I mean, those plants store water in their leaves and need dry spells, not a daily shower. Bottom watering every 10 days is the way to go, keeps the soil from staying soggy.

Fair enough, @sean_murray, but I'm going to play the other side here. Misting does help some succulents like haworthia or lithops get the leaf hydration they need during hot spells without soaking the roots. I do it every morning for my echeverias and they look way plumper than when I bottom watered every 10 days. The key is having super gritty soil that dries out fast, so the water never sits for long.
