Overheard a guy at the nursery say he waters his venus flytraps with distilled water only, feels like I've been doing everything wrong for 2 years.

I've been using tap water from my hose since I started growing them and now three of my traps are turning black at the edges, has anyone else dealt with this or am I just overwatering on top of the mineral thing?

Distilled water is a must for those, tap water minerals build up and burn the roots.

Buddy of mine killed three Venus flytraps in a row before he figured this out. He kept using tap water and couldn't figure out why they kept turning brown and dying. Finally he tried distilled on the fourth one and that plant is still going strong two years later. He says it was a total night and day difference once he switched. Now he buys those big jugs from the grocery store just for his carnivorous plants.
