Had to pick between a $200 grow light or a south-facing window for my new monstera
Went with the window to save cash, but now I'm worried about winter light. Anyone else ditch tech for a natural setup and regret it?

Yeah I feel you on this one. I went through the exact same thing last fall with my monstera and honestly I regretted not having a backup plan. @stone.evan is right about being honest with yourself about your actual winter light because I was in denial and my plant got super stretched out and droopy by February. A cheap LED bulb like kim.wren mentioned would have saved me so much headache. South facing windows can be tricky depending on where you live and how low the sun gets. I ended up getting a basic grow bulb for like 15 bucks and it made a huge difference without breaking the bank.

Gotta ask, what's your actual winter light like in that window? @kim.wren has a solid point about a cheap backup, but if you're getting like two hours of weak sun, that's a different problem. My friend's monstera got all leggy and sad one winter before she caved and got a light. The window might work if you get decent bright hours, but you gotta be real about what "south-facing" means in your place during December.
