Had to choose between a sunroom and a greenhouse for my cacti collection

I've got about 40 different cacti and succulents packed into my apartment, and they were starting to get leggy from lack of light. I debated for two weeks between building a small greenhouse in the backyard or just adding a sunroom off the kitchen. I went with the sunroom because I figured I could use it year-round for sitting too, but honestly after three months the cacti just aren't as happy as I hoped. The glass blocks too much UV, and now I'm thinking I should have just done the greenhouse. Has anyone else made a similar call and regretted it?

Wait, are you sure it's the UV that's the problem? Tbh I've got a few friends who grow cacti in sunrooms and they say the real issue is usually heat build up or the glass actually filtering out the specific light spectrum they need. Did you test the light levels with a meter or are you just guessing based on how they look? Ngl I made a similar mistake once and it was way more about the dirt drying out too fast than the light.

Yeah that's not the issue. Cacti actually do fine with less UV.
