The hinge on my old Weber kettle lid finally gave out after 15 years
It happened last Tuesday while I was checking a pork shoulder. I used a pair of vice grips as a temporary fix to finish the cook. Has anyone found a good permanent replacement hinge that can handle the heat?

Honestly, that hinge lasting 15 years is a testament to how they built those old kettles. The replacement parts you find now might not have the same metal quality. It could be worth checking if Weber still sells an official part for your specific model year.

Fifteen years is a great run. When you look at the broken hinge, can you tell if the metal itself snapped or if it just wore out at the bolt holes? I've seen some aftermarket ones that are thicker but the bolt pattern is off, which is a real pain. Getting the right fit seems to be half the battle.
