That expensive smoker thermometer was a waste of $120

Bought a fancy digital thermometer for my offset smoker last month, figured it would be more accurate than the one that came with it. First brisket cook it read 40 degrees off and ruined a $80 prime packer. Has anyone else had bad luck with these wireless probes or did I just get a lemon?

40 degrees off" is wild man, I can't believe that. I've been there in a way, my buddy got a $100 thermopen clone and it was reading 30 degrees low on his first pork butt, completely threw off his timing. It's ridiculous how something marketed as "professional grade" can be that far off from reality. That prime packer getting ruined is a gut punch for sure, I'd be furious. Makes you wonder if they even test these things before boxing them up.

Tbh I heard the cheaper wired ones are way more reliable than Bluetooth.
