Pro tip: never trust a brisket that talks back on a Tuesday

Last Tuesday in Austin I was babysitting a 14 pound packer on my offset and it somehow hissed at me through the grate like a deflating tire, which I blamed on a loose chimney cap until I pulled it off and found a fat drip igniting on the firebox hinge, and has anyone else had a smoker make noise that sounds oddly human when the temp swings?

Did yours sound like it was breathing too? Mine does this low groan when the wind hits the stack and it freaks me out every time. That hiss would've sent me straight inside for a beer.
