Lost $300 on a stupid wood pellet gamble that ruined 2 briskets
I went cheap and bought a pallet of those no-name pellets off Facebook marketplace last spring. Figured hey, pellets are pellets right? Wrong. First brisket came out tasting like burnt plastic and sawdust. I thought maybe I messed up the cook. Tried again a week later with another brisket from the same pallet. Same nasty flavor. Threw the whole pallet in the trash after that. $300 down the drain plus the cost of two prime briskets. Stick with the brand name stuff y'all. Anyone else get burned by off brand pellets?

Man I feel your pain. I did the same thing with some bargain bin charcoal once. Thought I was being smart, ended up with burgers that tasted like a campfire at a chemical plant. My neighbors probably thought I was running a meth lab in the backyard. $300 for that pallet plus two briskets is a rough lesson but at least you didn't eat the whole thing. I still got a half bag of that charcoal sitting in my garage as a monument to my own stupidity.

Dude I had the exact same thing happen with a pallet of "Royal Oak" from a discount liquidator. Turned my chicken into something that tasted like burnt rubber and regret, and I still find little black bits of it in my yard when I mow.
