Local BBQ spots swapping wood for pellets has me concerned
I've seen a few places in my town switch from real wood smokers to pellet grills. The flavor just isn't the same, it's missing that deep smoke ring. At last month's cook-off, half the teams used pellets for speed. If this keeps up, we might lose the true art of low and slow. I get that it's easier, but it feels like cutting corners. Let's talk about keeping traditions alive, lol.

Franklin Barbecue uses only wood for authentic smoke rings.

Guess my gas grill with a handful of wood chips is shaking in its boots right now. Nothing says real barbecue like waiting in a line for six hours just to stare at the inside of a brisket. If the smoke ring is fake, does that make the flavor a lie too? Pretty sure my taste buds didn't get the memo about needing a purity test.

Fake smoke ring" made me check my own grill, turns out I just forgot to turn it on. Guess my brisket is just slow roasting?
