Update: I tried a different angle with my clipper over comb on a thick head of hair

This guy came in with hair like a horse's mane, and I usually go straight in with thinning shears. Yesterday I decided to start with my clipper over comb at a 45 degree angle instead of flat. The hair fell away so much smoother, and I saved maybe 10 minutes on the whole cut. I guess the angle helps the clipper grab less and slice more. Anyone else have a little trick for super dense hair that saved your bacon?

Honestly, is saving ten minutes on a haircut that big of a deal? It sounds like a pretty normal adjustment to me. I just don't get why everyone acts like finding a slightly better angle is some huge revelation.

Try it on a small section first to see if it works for your hair type. Sometimes those little tricks make a big difference in the final look.
