Tried fading my own hair for the first time with a Wahl clipper...
Been cutting hair for about 3 years now but always had someone else do my own. Decided to try a skin fade on myself with my old Wahl Magic Clip last Saturday. Took almost two hours and my neck is sore but honestly it came out way better than I expected. Only had one small bald spot near the crown that I fixed with some texture powder. Any other barbers here do self cuts or is that just asking for trouble?

took almost two hours" is right, man. My first self fade was a whole ordeal too. What worked for me was splitting it into sections in a checklist. I do the bottom half first, then the blend, then the top, and I stop after each stage to check with a hand mirror. Made a huge difference in not rushing and missing a spot.

Use the hand mirror for the back or just a regular bathroom one?
