Spent 5 years fading with my clippers at the wrong angle before a customer pulled out his phone and showed me a slow-motion video

I was tilting the blade too far outward thinking it gave a softer blend, but the slow-mo revealed I was just chopping hair unevenly and leaving a visible line every time. Any other barbers have a moment where a customer showed you something that completely changed your approach?

Honestly, a client filming my fade and playing it back frame by frame was what finally fixed my blend. I was flicking out too early, and seeing it in slow motion made me realize I needed to let the blade glide through the whole section before lifting.

Yo @jesse84 that's actually genius. I've been telling people for years that filming yourself is the fastest way to level up but nobody wants to hear it cause it feels awkward. But seeing exactly where your hand stops or where the blade lifts changes everything. I tell guys all the time you can feel like you're doing it right but your eyes will show you the truth every time. Once you see that flick in slow mo you can't unsee it and that's when the real learning starts.
