Saw a barber in Austin use a spray bottle with half water half alcohol

I was in Austin last weekend and watched this barber mist his comb before every pass on a dry haircut. He said it keeps the lines crispy without wetting the hair down too much. Has anyone else tried this mix for feathering?

I read that some guys use witch hazel instead of alcohol for a gentler version.

Half water half alcohol actually dries faster than straight water so the lines stay visible longer without making the hair damp. Barber buddies of mine swear by it for blending beard lines too since it evaporates quicker and doesn't leave that wet clumpy look. The alcohol also cuts through any natural oils or product buildup that could dull the blade or clipper. Just don't go stronger than 50/50 or you risk drying out the scalp if you're doing multiple passes.
