Rant: I stopped using clipper guards for fades and my blends got way cleaner

For 3 years I did every fade with guards and always had a visible line at the transition. My mentor Marcus in Dallas showed me how to fade by hand with the blade half open, and now I just use the guard for the top and bottom. Anyone else switch to freehand fading, or do you still run guards the whole way up?
