PSA: Stop using cheap clipper oil on your blades
I been using the same $3 bottle of clipper oil from the beauty supply store for like 2 years. Last month I switched to a proper clipper lube from Wahl after my blades kept getting hot mid haircut. The difference is wild - my blades run way cooler and I haven't had to stop and oil them during a cut once. Anybody else notice a big difference with the good stuff?

Gotta agree with you on this one. I used to think oil was oil, just something to keep the blades wet. But after a similar experience with my beard trimmers, I switched to a brand name lubricant and noticed the same thing - way less heat and smother cutting. It's like buying cheap motor oil for your car versus the good stuff, sure it works for a while but eventually you pay the price in wear and tear. I've learned the hard way that cutting corners on maintenance stuff like this just costs you more money down the road when you have to replace the whole unit. Take it from someone who's killed a few trimmers by being cheap, spending a few extra bucks on proper lube is worth every penny.

Respectfully, I see it a little different. I've been using the same cheap 3-in-1 oil on my kitchen shears and hedge clippers for years and they still cut like new. The trick is cleaning the blades BEFORE you oil them, not just dumping more lube on top of gunk. I think a LOT of people skip the cleaning step and then blame the oil when things start running rough. Brand name stuff might be a little better but I've had just as many cheap trimmers die from people not wiping them down as from bad lubrication. Maybe I'm just lucky but my $15 Walmart trimmer is going on 4 years now with dollar store oil and a good wiping after each use.
