Pro tip: stop using a comb to hold the hair for a skin fade
I keep seeing barbers in my city push the hair up with a comb before they go in with the clipper, which just makes the hair lay flat and you miss the line. I learned this from a barber in Chicago who said 'the comb is for blending, not for holding the line.' I started using my free hand to pull the skin tight and guide the clipper, and my fades got way cleaner in about two weeks. Has anyone else had to unlearn this habit?

Oh man, that explains so much. My last barber did the comb push thing. Always wondered why my fade looked soft after a day.

Comb push ruins a fade every time. It just moves hair around instead of cutting it clean. Find a barber who cuts against the grain with clippers.
