I finally quit using clippers on the back of the neck and my fades got 10x cleaner
For years I finished every fade with the trimmer and then went over it with clippers to blend, and I always had that little line at the bottom. Last month a guy who has been cutting for 22 years watched me do a skin fade on a walk in and just shook his head. He showed me how he does the whole bottom third with a straight razor and no guard at all, working up in small passes. I tried it on my next three clients and not one of them had a single complaint about the transition. I was honestly mad at myself for not figuring this out sooner. What are you all using to get that last inch clean without leaving marks?

Try going even lighter on pressure at the bottom, let the razor do the work.
