Guys, stop telling clients to use beard oil on a fresh lineup

Last Tuesday a kid came in with razor bumps so bad his neck looked like a strawberry. He said his last barber told him to slap beard oil on right after the cut. Oil traps the heat and bacteria from a fresh blade, you need an antiseptic or at least cold water first. Has anyone else seen the same advice backfire?

Three years ago my buddy bought a "detox" tea that told him to drink it before bed. He was up peeing every 45 minutes until 4 AM. Same idea here. People hear one thing that sounds fancy and repeat it without checking if it makes sense for the actual situation. Beard oil on a fresh cut is like putting lotion on a sunburn. It feels like you're doing something but you're just locking in the damage. There's a whole trend of people taking care advice from product sellers instead of people who've done the job for a decade. Sellers want you to use more product, not less.
