Clipper care back then vs now, the oil game changed for me

I used to just wipe my Wahl clippers down with a rag and slap a drop of oil on the blades whenever I remembered, maybe once a week at my old shop in Phoenix. After I gummed up a $180 pair of Magic Clips last summer, I switched to spraying them out with air and oiling every single client, takes like 20 seconds. Has anyone else noticed a big jump in blade lifespan doing this daily routine, or am I just paranoid about another costly cleanup?

Started doing the same thing after I fried a pair of Andis last year, oiling every client changed everything for me. My blades now last about two or three months longer than they did with the weekly wipe down, and they run cooler too. The air spray makes the biggest difference though, it keeps the grime from building up in the first place.
