Can we talk about spray nozzle angles on clipper trimmers?

I was at a barber swap meet in Austin last month and an old timer showed me how he grinds down the nozzle on his clipper to get a steeper angle for tight fade lines. Has anyone else messed with modifying their trimmer heads for better precision?

Nah, just learn your wrist angle instead.

I worked in a barber shop in Dallas for about 12 years before I retired, so I've seen a lot of guys try this. Grinding down the nozzle is a bad idea in my opinion because you're changing the airflow and the clipper can start overheating on longer cuts. Those nozzles are designed a specific way for a reason, and once you take metal off you can't put it back. I remember a kid ruined a perfectly good Oster 76 trying this and ended up spending twice as much on a new head. Better to just learn to use your wrist angle or buy a trimmer with a narrower head instead of hacking up a tool.
