An old barber in Gary told me to stop using clippers on the sides, and 6 months later I finally get it
When I was 20 hours into my first shop job, this 68 year old barber named Ray watched me buzz a guy's sides down to a 1 and walked over. He said, "You're mowing a lawn, not cutting hair." I blew him off for 3 months because fade clippers were what everyone on YouTube was doing. Then a regular with a cowlick on his left side started going bald in patches and the clipper lines looked awful. Ray showed me how to scissor over comb the sides, and the blend on that same guy's head lasted 2 extra weeks before he needed a touch up. My neck time went up 5 minutes a cut at first, which stunk, but my rebook rate went from 60 to 80 percent over that spring. Any of you still running clippers all the way up, or did you switch to scissor over comb at some point?
