Rant: my grandma's 40 year old sourdough starter died because I moved it to a new jar
Found out from a baker in Portland that starters build a film on the glass walls that protects them, so scraping it into a clean jar basically evicted 40 years of built up yeast and it went sour in like 2 days, has anyone else killed a starter by trying to be too clean?
