Walked into a customer's house last week and saw a 15-year-old washing machine still running strong with no service calls on record
I've got the older machines that last forever but waste water and power versus the newer efficient ones that seem to break down every couple years, so which way do you lean when a customer asks for advice on repairing versus replacing?

Honestly @alexlewis, my own washing machine is about as old as I am, so maybe I'm biased towards repairs by default.

That old machine is a tank, but the cost to run it adds up fast when you look at the utility bills over time. Repairing it might save money now, but a newer efficient model pays for itself in water and power savings within a couple years if they stick around. Really just depends how long they plan to stay in the house compared to how much they want to spend upfront.
