Tried the cheap generic compressor relay off Amazon vs the OEM part for a fridge call last Thursday

The generic one clicked three times then smoked out, so I had to drive back 45 minutes across town with the OEM part and eat the labor loss. Has anyone else just stopped bothering with anything but factory parts for sealed system stuff?

Diana nailed it with those amp ratings, I've been burned by the same thing on a few different models. The cheap ones just don't hold up under the load and it's never worth the second trip. Factory parts are the only way to go for sealed system repairs anymore.

Those Amazon relays have a 30 amp rating stamped on the side but the OEM ones for that model are usually 40 amp. I learned that the hard way on a Whirlpool last year, same exact result with the smoke and a wasted trip. The spec sheets on the cheap ones never match the original part ratings even when the plug fits.
