Tried an OEM belt vs a generic on a Samsung dryer last week - night and day difference
Had a call for a Samsung dryer that was squealing like crazy. Customer had put a cheap belt from Amazon on it 3 months ago. I replaced it with a genuine Samsung belt and it runs smooth as butter now. The generic belt had these little mold lines that were causing friction on the pulley. Anyone else seen this with aftermarket belts or just me?

Started thinking all belts were pretty much the same but you just proved me wrong. I had a Whirlpool a few years back that kept throwing a belt and I swore it was the tensioner. Turned out it was a cheap aftermarket belt that was slightly too wide and kept catching on the idler pulley edge. Swapped it for OEM and never had another problem since then. Made me realize those mold tolerances really do matter on these modern dryers. You think the generic ones just skip quality control steps or what?

Cheap aftermarket belts" is exactly it. A buddy's dryer ate three before he finally went OEM.
