The dishwasher that flooded a dentist's office because a cherry pit picked the wrong week to show up
So last Thursday I get a call from a dental office over in Mesa saying their dishwasher was pouring water all over the floor. I figure it's a clogged drain hose, easy $95 service call, in and out before lunch. I get there and the thing has puked maybe two inches of water across the whole break room, and the receptionist is standing on a chair like there's a mouse. Turns out a cherry pit from somebody's lunch bowl had jammed the drain pump so bad it cracked the housing, and the pump was spraying water like a tiny lawn sprinkler every cycle. I had to pull the whole unit out, shop vac the floor, and dry the baseboards with the dentist watching me the entire time. The best part? He asks if I can have it running by 2pm because they had patients booked, and I'm standing there holding a broken pump in one hand and a cherry pit in the other. I told him my tool bag does not do miracles, but I did get a new pump from the supply house in Tempe by 3:30. Anybody else ever pull a whole foreign object out of a drain pump and just stare at it wondering how it got past the filter?
