That Samsung fridge compressor I swapped last week is acting up again
I put a new compressor in a Samsung french door fridge on Tuesday over in Oakwood. Customer called me this morning saying it's not cooling past 50 degrees. I checked my connections and they look solid, so maybe it's a board issue or a bad start relay. Has anyone else seen these things fail again within a week of a swap? I'm thinking about just ordering a whole new sealed system part next time.

Check the defrost timer hasn't been bumped into manual defrost mode. I've seen a few folks accidentally trigger it while digging around in the back and it'll run the heat strips nonstop, making the fridge think it's warmer than it is.

Oh man, I don't know if I'd jump straight to ordering a whole sealed system just yet. That's like bringing a sledgehammer to hang a picture frame. Could be something stupid like a loose wire on the new relay or even just a bad batch of refrigerant from the can. I've had a few jobs over the years where I swore the compressor was toast but it turned out to be the start capacitor acting up right out of the box. Before you go tearing the whole thing apart, I'd double check the run capacitor with a meter and make sure the new compressor is actually getting its full voltage under load. Sometimes those things are just finicky for a day or two.
