Pro tip: I saw a tech at the appliance parts warehouse in Spokane using a magnetized screwdriver tray.
Honestly, it kept all the tiny screws from a dishwasher pump assembly organized and stopped them from rolling away. Anyone else use something similar for small parts?

Oh man, that's the worst! My buddy had a guy come to fix his dryer. The repairman dropped a tiny spring into the vent hose and just left it there. My friend didn't know until the whole thing started rattling like a tin can full of rocks a week later. He had to take the whole machine apart again to find it. Some people just don't care what falls where.

Yeah, the lost screws thing. My friend had a guy fix her fridge. He left a washer inside the panel, same deal as what @ninas70 said. Whole thing buzzed like a hornet's nest until she found it.
