Just found out that a lot of those new smart fridges have a hidden diagnostic mode you can access with the ice maker button sequence
I stumbled across a forum post from a guy in Chicago who said pressing the ice maker button 5 times in a row on a Samsung fridge pulls up error codes and temps, and I tried it on a customer's unit last Tuesday and it actually worked.

Wait, the ice maker button? The one you normally use to turn the ice off or force a cycle? I thought that thing was just for making ice, not pulling up a whole diagnostic screen like the car ones from the 90s. I've been in people's houses and seen those Samsung fridges, never would have guessed the ice button does anything except dump ice everywhere when it jams up. That's wild, I'm gonna try it tomorrow on my neighbor's unit just to see if it actually works or if your customer's fridge was some weird fluke model.

Actually, most Samsung French door fridges with the ice maker in the door do have that hidden diagnostic mode. You hold the ice maker button and the Power Freeze button together for about 8 seconds, it's not just a fluke model thing. I've seen it on at least four different models from 2018 to 2022. The screen shows error codes and lets you test the ice maker and dispenser motors individually, which is pretty handy for troubleshooting. Just make sure you're holding the right buttons though, I think some of the newer ones changed it to the ice maker button plus the Energy Saver button instead.
