Appreciation post: That one day where every fix was a simple door switch
Last Tuesday, I had five service calls in a row for different brands of washers not spinning, and every single one was just a faulty lid or door switch. It was the easiest $800 I've made in a long time, just swapping out those little plastic parts. Do you guys ever get those weirdly lucky streaks where the problem is the same simple thing all day?

My old boss used to call that a "theme day." We had a week once where every other call was a clogged drain from those new flushable wipes, which of course aren't flushable at all. It feels like the universe just picks one simple problem and runs with it for a while.

We had a solid month last year where every third call was a Samsung fridge with a bad ice maker. Same exact part, same exact noise. It got to the point I just kept a stack of them in the van.

Those Samsung ice makers are basically a subscription service for repair techs. I started telling customers to just unplug the whole ice maker unit until they need it, it saves the motor. Keep the part number written down too, the aftermarket ones are cheaper and work just as long as the factory part, which isn't saying much.
