A clogged dryer vent almost cost me a customer in Tucson, and I ignored it for 3 weeks
Two months ago I was at a rental unit in Tucson fixing a dryer that kept shutting off mid cycle. I pulled the vent hose and found it packed solid with lint going back maybe 4 feet. The tenant said the landlord had been told twice but never sent anyone out. I cleared it, but while I was up on the roof checking the outside flap I noticed the duct was crushed flat in one spot from a previous repair. That crushed section was the real problem, not the lint. I could have swapped the thermal fuse and left, but the unit would have kept tripping. Now I always run the vent by hand before I touch anything else. How do you all handle landlords who won't pay for the full fix when the tenant is the one calling you?
