Took me 3 weeks to realize my anime file naming was the real problem

Ngl, I spent almost a month wondering why my media server kept messing up episode order for older shows. Turns out my files were named like 'Show_EP01' instead of using the standard S01E01 format, and the scraper just gave up. I finally fixed it by using a bulk rename tool and it took maybe 20 minutes once I knew what to look for. Has anyone else fought with this on niche series where the database has weird alternate titles? I almost gave up and just watched on a streaming site.

Did you check if the scraper reads the folder name too, since renaming files alone won't fix a bad parent folder?

I had a similar mess back in 2019 with a batch of old Gundam episodes where the folder was just labeled "Mobile Suit Gundam 0079" and the scraper kept pulling in the movie trilogy instead of the TV series. Fixing the file names helped a bit, but the real fix was renaming that parent folder to match the database entry exactly. So yeah, the folder name matters just as much as the file names themselves.
