That filler arc that broke my binge streak
I was three episodes deep into a 90s anime rewatch last night when suddenly the plot just stopped dead. The next episode was a beach episode with characters I didn't even recognize. I checked the episode list and realized the next 8 episodes were all filler. I skipped ahead to the last one but it still referenced stuff from the filler, so now I gotta decide if I power through or just drop the whole series for a while. Anyone else hit a wall with filler ruining a good run?

Wait, 8 episodes straight? That's brutal. I always hit a wall when the filler has no boundaries - like when it starts crossing into the main plot's territory and you're lost either way. Something similar happened to me with Naruto back in the day, ended up just reading a wiki summary for the filler and then jumping back in. Honestly sometimes I wonder if these anime studios know they're killing the momentum on purpose, or if they just don't care.

Read somewhere that some anime studios literally have contracts to hit a certain episode count, so they pump out filler to stall instead of just taking a break. That 8 episode block sounds like a straight up production tax, not a creative choice.
