Subbed vs dubbed for Attack on Titan season 2
I watched the first season dubbed but picked subbed for season 2 because a friend swore it was better. The emotional scenes hit way harder but I missed catching details while reading. Has anyone else switched formats mid-series and stuck with it?

Funny enough, I actually tried switching back to the dub for one episode just to see if it clicked again... ended up laughing at a serious scene because the line delivery felt off compared to what I'd gotten used to. @wesleyjohnson has a point about missing visual details though, I definitely missed a couple of Titan reveal moments because my eyes were glued to the bottom of the screen. Maybe I just have slow reading speed or something, feels like I'm back in 3rd grade trying to keep up with the class. Still sticking with subbed though, the raw emotion in the Japanese voice acting is just on another level for me personally.

Did you try going back to the dub for season 2 just to see if the voice actors grew on you? I actually stuck with the dub the whole way and I think the performances are solid enough that the emotional weight comes through just fine. Reading subtitles takes me out of the action, especially with all the fast-paced scenes in AoT where you gotta keep up with the visuals. Don't get me wrong, I respect the sub purists, but for me missing half the frame because I'm reading is worse than any voice acting change. Plus the English cast really nails the big moments like Eren's breakdowns or Levi's dry humor, so I never felt like I was losing anything.
