Shoutout to the neighbor's barking dog for making me realize why my subtitles were always off
I was working on a fansub timing project last Saturday morning in my tiny apartment and after the 47th time that little yapper next door barked during a quiet dialogue scene, I finally understood that my sync issues were because I kept jumping at the sound and shifting the audio waveform by about 200 milliseconds each time, so now I wear noise-canceling headphones and has anyone else had a random distraction completely mess up their subtitle timing?
idk maybe it's just me but I feel like barking dogs have a sixth sense for finding the exact worst moment to chime in. Mine waits until I'm doing a really precise scene with like 0.5 second gaps and then goes off and suddenly I'm just slamming my mouse like "thanks buddy, real helpful.
@caseyw12 You ever notice how they also have perfect timing when you're on a tight call or trying to record something? My dog waits until I hit record on a video then decides the mailman is a threat to national security. Makes you wonder if they're secretly in on some kind of plot to mess with our concentration.
