Rewatching Naruto filler arcs and realizing they were actually pretty good

I got into a debate with a buddy last week about skipping filler, so I went back to watch the early Naruto filler episodes around episode 100. Turns out those mission-based side stories actually had some decent character moments I completely missed as a kid. Has anyone else changed their mind about filler after a rewatch?

skip the flashback-heavy ones and you'll find some real gems, the curry of life arc is way better than I remembered.

curry of life arc is way better than I remembered" - man, I don't know about that. I rewatched it recently and it's still just a bunch of goofy cooking contests with some minor character development thrown in. People act like it's some deep meditation on life but it's really just Luffy being dumb about food for 15 episodes. The flashback stuff can be annoying but at least it tries to build the world. If anything, skipping those just leaves you with the filler-y parts that don't matter. I'd rather sit through a few flashbacks than watch Sanji cry over rice for half a season.
