Just realized the dub changed this one scene and it broke the whole plot for me
I was rewatching a show from last season and noticed a translation detail that flipped the meaning of a major twist. The sub had the villain admit they knew the hero's secret plan, but the dub made it sound like a lucky guess. It took me 3 days of comparing episodes and checking the wiki to finally figure out what happened. Has anyone else ever caught a bad translation that completely changed how you saw a character?

Wait, is that really how much a single line can change things? I used to just skim over translation differences and assume dub and sub were basically the same story, but your post made me go check a few scenes from shows I watched years ago, and I was blown away. I found one where the dub made a character look like a total airhead, but the sub had them being super sharp and calculating, which honestly changed how I saw their whole arc. I genuinely thought it was just a voice actor choice thing before, but now I get that the words themselves are doing the heavy lifting. That must have been so frustrating to dig through, but I'm kinda glad you posted because I never would have looked twice at it myself.
