Just realized Goku’s first Super Saiyan transformation took 19 episodes to build up

I was rewatching the Frieza saga and counted it out, from the first hint of rage to the actual golden hair it's almost 20 episodes of buildup. Has anyone else gone back and clocked how long these older arcs really drag out?

The buildup to Goku's first Super Saiyan transformation is basically a masterclass in tension, even if it drags a bit. What worked for me during those older arc rewatches was breaking them up into smaller chunks instead of binging all at once. I'd watch three or four episodes a night, which made the pacing feel way more natural (and gave me time to actually process all the screaming). It also helped to skip the filler episodes that don't really move the story forward, like the ones where Goku is just flying around Namek doing nothing. By treating it like a weekly TV show again, the payoff at the end felt earned instead of exhausting.

Yeah, the "flying around Namek doing nothing" filler is brutal... I started timing it out differently too. Instead of trying to binge the whole Frieza saga, I'd watch an episode then take a real break, like go do dishes or something. It helped with the screaming fatigue for sure. Also, I found that skipping the recap at the start of each episode saved me a good 2-3 minutes per watch, which adds up when you're marathoning.
