I've been pronouncing 'Ghibli' wrong for about fifteen years.

My daughter, who is eight, was watching a trailer with me last week and said the name correctly. I always said it with a hard 'G', like 'gibble-ee'. She just looked at me and asked, 'Daddy, why did you say it like that?' I had to look it up and found out it's supposed to be said like 'jee-blee', like the Italian word. I felt pretty silly. Has anyone else had a long-running pronunciation mix-up with an anime studio or title?

The hard G thing is a classic. I spent years calling it "Guy-ver" like the guy at the store, until a friend very slowly said "Guy...ver? You mean the Bio-Booster Armor?" That was a quiet car ride home.

I read somewhere that the creator confirmed the hard G for Guyver, @river_hart18, which makes that car ride even funnier.
