I used to think all filler episodes were a waste of time.

For years, I'd skip any episode of a show that wasn't directly about the main plot, especially in long series like 'One Piece'. Then, a friend in Chicago made me watch the G-8 filler arc, and I realized those episodes built the crew's chemistry in a way the main story sometimes rushes. Do you have a favorite filler arc that actually made a show better?

My cousin got me into Bleach years ago and I almost skipped the entire Bount arc. Turned out those episodes had some of the best character moments for Ishida and Orihime that the main story just glossed over. It made their later choices way more meaningful. Sometimes the detour is the whole point.

Yeah the G-8 arc is a great example lol. For me it was the "Kakashi's Anbu Arc" in Naruto Shippuden. It gave so much needed backstory on his past and his relationship with the Third Hokage, stuff the main plot just never had time for.
