I finally went to that anime convention at the convention center downtown

So I drove down to the Metro City Convention Hall last Saturday for AnimeFest 2024, and I gotta say the cosplay quality was way better than I expected. I saw this one guy dressed as a character from a show I didn't even recognize, but his armor was built out of real worbla and painted to look like rusty metal, which is crazy because I work with concrete and know how hard it is to fake textures like that. The only thing that bugged me was how loud the panel rooms were, like people just talking right through the speakers. Has anyone else noticed conventions getting more crowded and noisy over the last 2 years?

I used to roll my eyes at people who said conventions were getting too crowded, figured they were just being cranky. But last year I went to a smaller one and it was honestly overwhelming, way more people than I remembered from 2019. Your mileage may vary of course, but the noise levels are definitely worse now, like everyone forgot how to whisper in a hallway. The cosplay sounds amazing though, that armor detail must have taken forever to get right.
