Got roasted on r/anime for calling every slow episode "filler" and honestly I needed it
Last month I posted a rant about a show's pacing and called a whole stretch of episodes filler, and a commenter pushed back hard. They pointed out that two of those episodes were anime-original material that actually built up a side character, and they quoted the manga chapters they covered so I could check myself. I pulled up the source and they were right, so now I keep a little note of which episodes adapt the manga and which are original before I complain about pacing. It takes ten extra minutes per show but I sound way less clueless now. How do you all decide when an original episode is worth it vs. actual filler?
