Found a 2009 forum thread predicting today's anime discourse, wild ride

Last month I stumbled across a thread from 2009 on an old anime board where people argued about sub vs dub like it was a life or death fight. The funny part is, the same exact arguments they made back then are still showing up in this community today, just with newer shows. Someone even called fanservice 'the death of storytelling' and another guy replied with a 3 paragraph defense that could've been copy pasted from last Tuesday's post here. It made me realize how much of what we discuss is just recycled takes with different character names. Does anyone else ever dig through old forum archives to see if their hot take is actually a 15 year old rerun?

The weird part is that 2009 thread probably had people arguing about 4:3 vs 16:9 aspect ratios, and now we're doing the same thing with OLED vs LCD monitors. I dug through a 2004 Naruto forum once and found someone complaining about filler arcs using the exact same wording as a rant I saw here last week. That whole archive proves we're not having new arguments, we're just changing the tags on the same five fights.
