Burned $80 on a limited edition blu-ray box set

I pre-ordered that special edition release of Cowboy Bebop from a smaller distributor and the discs had skipping issues on episode 5. They wouldn't refund me because I opened it. Anyone else get burned by these overpriced anime box sets?

Tbh that sucks, I've been there too. Pre-ordered a limited run of Akira once and the disc had audio sync issues, but they said I couldn't return it cause the shrink wrap was gone. Smaller distributors really need to step up their quality control if they're gonna charge premium prices like that. It's like they know anime fans will pay anything for a cool box and then don't bother testing the discs. Makes me wanna just stick to standard releases even if the artwork isn't as flashy.
