Oh man, I gotta call you out on this one. Three afternoons? That's just bad troubleshooting, plain and simple. You probably didn't even check if the BIOS was set to legacy or UEFI first, or look at the boot order. I've had old ThinkPads that were picky about USB formatting too, but that's a 10 minute fix with Rufus. Honestly, if you can't crack a USB boot issue in an hour, maybe stick to modern hardware that holds your hand through everything.

Nobody checked if the drive was formatted MBR or GPT yet.
