Spent 12 years blowing dust out of my PC with my mouth before a friend laughed at me
I know compressed air cans are cheap, like $5 at Micro Center, but I always figured my lungs were free and strong enough. Last October my buddy Dave watched me do it and said 'you're just pushing that moisture in deeper.' He showed me how the dust clumps around the fan bearings after I'd been huffing on them. Pulled my old Dell Optiplex 780 apart and sure enough, there was a sticky gray paste on the CPU fan. Switched to a $10 electric duster from Amazon and now I feel like an idiot every time I look at that thing. Has anyone else had a rude awakening about some simple maintenance habit?

Dave probably just saved your PC from a slow death by spit.

Slow death by spit" - that's a good one. Reminds me of the time I found my old laptop with a half-eaten sandwich stuck between the keyboard and the screen. Still worked, but the smell was something else.

Buddy I learned that lesson the hard way too. Now I just keep a can of compressed air and a microfiber cloth on my desk at all times. Quick 30 second clean every few days beats a sticky keyboard death.
